Alastair Cook, the England vice-captain and opening batsman, does not agree that his side has been complacent since becoming the number one ranked Test team of the globe, and is still confident that the Poms will beat South Africa
in the remaining two matches of the series.

five of the nine Tests played this year - including a series whitewash at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE).
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749’s much awaited Test series against South Africa started earlier this month, with the home team losing the Oval Test in a disastrous manner (by a margin of an innings and 12 runs). In case of a victory in the series, the Proteas
will replace Strauss’ men as the top-ranked Test team.
There has been immense criticism on the English side from different ranks, which are of the view that the Poms took things for granted after becoming the number one team.
Cook however, dismissed all such criticism and expressed that his side worked extremely hard to achieve this feat and they do not want to throw away the crown.
“We don’t ever think we are the best team in the world,” the 27-year-old cricketer said. “The rankings show we have managed to get to the top of the tree. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362 brushes that aside. He is determined that we improve as a side.”
While talking about the second Test, which starts on August 2 at Headingley, Leeds, the left-hander hopes that his side will bounce back to dismantle the visitors, although he admitted that the odds are now heavily in favour of the
Proteas.
“It would be an amazing achievement to beat a side like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, and it is certainly not out of the question. I know it is all doom and gloom now, but we all know how things can happen in Test cricket and we have just got to
make sure we steel ourselves for fighting for those five days,” he added.
