England’s captain for the 50-overs format, Alastair Cook, is ecstatic with his team’s performance in the first of the five-match One Day International series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at the Oval.
The home team defeated the visitors by a huge margin of 110 runs, in a match which was badly affected by rain.
There has been a lot of criticism on the English cricket officials, since Cook has been named as the captain for the ODI format, even though he is yet to establish himself as a high-class limited overs batsman. However, this is a great start for his captaincy

However, Cook is geared up to change his country’s fortunes in ODI cricket and feels that this series against Sri Lanka is going to be the first step moving forward.
"We had a frustrating winter in the one-day form of the game and one game's not going to make us a complete unit. We've got a lot of improving to do and hopefully we can continue to do that in the series," he added.
