The captain of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749’s One-Day team, Alastair Cook, is keeping his fingers crossed regarding the availability of Eoin Morgan. The Poms are scheduled to tour India for a return series later this year and Morgan’s inclusion in
the outfits will bolster their chances of winning.
Morgan is suffering from a recurring shoulder injury, the same injury that he picked up on the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 because
of this injury and is expected to consult a specialist in the next few days to determine the time required for his rehabilitation.
Speaking on this matter, Cook said, “We really don't know. We hope he will be. At the moment we don't know. It's been ongoing for a while, and he woke up (here) and knew he just couldn't play because it was too sore. So he's off
to see a specialist at some stage over the next few days, and then we'll know far more.”
The English team has been on a roll this summer; they have been dominating the Indians in Tests and now have a lead of one game to nil in the five-match ODI series, the first game of which was abandoned due to heavy showers.
Rain also played its part in the second game and the match was reduced to 23-overs per side. However, the Poms managed to pull off a win in the second ODI, even without the likes of Morgan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 was preferred over Trott, as according to Cook, England wanted aggressive players for the 23-over game.
“That was a Twenty20 decision. Because the game got shortened, we felt we wanted more attacking batters in there - that's why Samit came in - and we had enough batting in a Twenty20 game and so didn't need Trotty at the top,” confirmed
Cook.
The Poms' skipper further revealed that during the team meeting he also discussed the option of resting himself but decided against it. Cook adopted superbly to the shorter format as he played a match winning knock of 80 runs which
also earned him the Man of the Match title.
