Alba DVD player 114

Question

Sorry - 113 was the nearest I could find. The player has been used no more than 6 times and now nothing works!! I've tried unplugging and reconnecting. I've even put new batteries in the remote. It just sits there with little red light glaring balefully. It is connected to my TV with 21 pin scart to scart. A 'friend' did unplg the scart from the TV a while back to try out a freeview box. I'm not good at 'technical' so if you can help please keep it simple! Thanks
