The Spanish full-back recently joined Barcelona from Valencia, and claims that no one stopped him from going to the Olympics to represent Spain.
Barcelona recently signed the Spanish full-back, Jordi Alba, from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863. The Euro 2012 winner was the highlight of this transfer market and the Spanish giants were able to steal the player away from each and every elite European club who were trying to get his signature.
Last season Barcelona did not only lose the Spanish La Liga; in fact, they also lost their chance to win the UEFA Champions League. Moreover, they also lost one of the best coaches in their history, Josep Guardiola.
Since joining from the year 2008, Josep Guardiola won 14 trophies with the Spanish club and there is no doubt that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 became an untouchable force during his reign.
However, now with Tito Vilanova taking charge of the club, he told the management that he will be signing two defensive players and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordi-Alba-c19111 became one of them.
Alba has recently helped Spain win the Euro 2012. The Spanish team was able to write its name in the history books as they won the European title for the second successive time, making them the only national team accomplishing this feat.
The former Valencia star became the surprise package for the Spanish side during this Euro 2012 triumph and even though he has just returned from the international competition, he was allowed by the Barcelona management to represent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 in the Olympics.
While speaking to Marca, Jordi Alba said:
"Nobody from Barcelona made it difficult for me to go to the Olympics.”
"It's true that I have played a lot of games, but the chance to go to the Games makes it worthwhile.”
Spain have already won the FIFA World Cup 2010, and after their Euro 2012 triumph, they have shown that they are the team to beat. They haven’t lost a major international tournament since four years and that is the reason why they are still the favourites to win the footballing event in the Olympics.
Alba will be representing Spain during the Olympics, which means that he might join Barcelona a bit late during the Spanish La Liga season which is kicking off next month.
