Alban Lakata and Robert Mennen victorious at TransAlp stage 4
Alban Lakata and Robert Mennen of Team Topeak Ergon succeeded during the fourth stage of the TransAlp after their convincing victory on Tuesday.
The duo crossed the finish-line in a total time of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 17 seconds and put in 40 seconds to the duo of Urs Huber & Konny Looser of Stöckli Pro Team.
"Making up that much time on this stage is not that bad," said Lakata. "We had very strong legs again. At the moment, everything is quite perfect. If this streak holds on, we might be able to take over the lead".
"We noticed that the leaders had some problems so we gave it a try," said Mennen. "We knew that our real advantage would be the last quarter of the leg with its continuously increasing meters in elevation".
Markus Kaufmann & Thomas Stoll, Andreas Kugler & Hannes Genze and Karl Platt & Tim Bohme occupied the third, fourth and fifth positions in the respective order.
Milena Landtwing & Sally Bigham won the women category of the race with Catherine Williamson & Louise Ischen Stopforth finishing 18 minutes and 20 seconds behind at the second position.
Andrea Kuster & Angela Niklaus of Team Metz – Kraftwerk, Sarah Bosch & Kristina Weber of Team Mountain Heroes 2 and Manuela Werkle & Tina Urnau of Team Black Tusk Racing By Tomotion grabbed the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Katrin Neumann & Daniel Jung of Team Mountain Heroes 1 won the mixed category of the race with Patrick Jauch & Antonia Wipfli of Team Gisler and Katharina Alberti & Matthias Gärtner of Team Black Tusk Racing By Tomotion.
Marzio Deho & Massimo De Bertolis of Team Adamelloski succeeded during the Masters 80 + event of the race while Viktor Paris & Hans Piazza and Andreas Laner & Hans Grasegger occupied the second and the third positions.
