League should be not forgotten.
It is the captain’s fourteenth season in Els Taronja first team and the first time the club have secured Champions League participation for the third time in succession.
The 34-year-old was happy with their achievements as he talked about the importance of third place finish. Albelda reminisced that a few years ago it would have asked for a big party to celebrate if Valencia finished fourth and qualified to play in the preliminary
stages of the UEFA Champions League.
"It was a very demanding season with some setbacks, but we are very satisfied because the objective of third place in La Liga is fulfilled, and in the other competitions we fight until the semi-finals. Additionally, the third position is a very important
financial support for Valencia, "he said.
"It is true that we missed the finals of the Copa del Rey and in the Europa League, but there are teams with big budgets as Malaga and Atletico Madrid and we have stayed ahead of them in the league," the Valencia captain said.
Los Che go into their last match of the 2011/12 La Liga season with an advantage of six points over 4th placed Malaga. It will be the last match Unai Emery will direct from the dugout as he leads his charges against Real Sociedad in San Sebastian.
