  1. I am not agree that all places are expensive in rome, If you just search from few places , you must be able to find good 3 star hotels at very good rate..

I am using below site, when i go Italy. It gives some good deals and information about hotels also helpful, and we can narrow our search for particular area or any other way..Just look at it

  2. I read everything is expensive in Rome.  However, I found some good deals on apartments in Rome.  Usually there is a 3 day minimum stay.  And if you eat in some of the time, the money you save on food can help pay for the apartment.  I believe they started around 75 Euro/Day.  AccomodationsRome is a good site that has proven to have good service.

  3. http://www.bedandbreakfastroma.com/

  4. A good site for doing this kind of search is: http://en.venere.com/italy/ When you've selected a city and dates, you can search by particular area of the city and sort by price. Most hotels have reviews by people who have stayed there. The cheaper areas will be away from the center of Rome, but there are a number of reasonable low-cost places near the train station or the colosseum.

You might be interested in a stay at a convent or monastery in Italy. These tend to be some of the best lodging bargains in Italy. There are a number of them in Rome. In some places in Italy, a monestary stay may be free. see: http://www.monasterystays.com/?show=page... or http://www.santasusanna.org/comingToRome...

My brother and his wife stayed in a convent in Rome and loved it. A niece and nephew did the same.
