against his compatriot, Daniel Munoz-De La Nava, in Marbella, Spain.

unable to retain their initial serves but the score line squared down to 1-all in the second game. The trend continued in the initial part of the opener and Nava struggled hard to secure his breakthrough in the seventh game. He was unable to rally beyond that

with poise and battled to make it for his dismal entry in the opener. He dusted away his contender every time he strived to cruise over. He secured the frontline due to his consistency and poise, plucking Nava’s serve in the seventh game. He jumped forward
to terminate the equalizer with a 6-2 lead.
In the final set, left-handed Nava maintained his serve in order to avenge his former loss. The 31-year-old Spaniard did not grant him a single opportunity to take over. He delivered a blow to his oppoennt in the fifth game, marking
a 3-2 lead. After that point, Montanes seemed unbeatable as he swiftly bagged away all the games without facing any hindrance and eventually pulled out the decider with a 6-3 triumph.
