Albert Pujols and C. J. Wilson will make American League more competitive – MLB News
The arrival of two brilliant players C. J. Wilson and Albert Pujols to the Los Angeles Angels will make the American League more competitive in the coming seasons.
The direct impact of these two players will also affect on some low performing teams including the Oakland Athletics whose performance has remained very inconsistent during the whole 2011 Major League campaign.
All the other AL teams like Baltimore Orioles, along with Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers will
also feel that the Angels have become more powerful after signing free agents Wilson and Pujols.
A recent report published in a sports news website that says, the most likely impact on all the other teams but especially on the A’s is to improve their own quality especially regarding signing potential new comers.
Emphasising more on the A’s prospects in the next season and how the two new signings of the Angels will create a power shifting manoeuvre. The reporters asked some questions from the A’s catcher Kurt Suzuki, who told the media about Pujols and Wilson’s
presence in the Angels’ roster and how it will be proving for them in the coming days as well as about the pressure that the Athletics will face when they come up to compete in the next season.
Suzuki said, “It's definitely tough, you look at the Angels, you can compare them to the Yankees now as far as the level of talent and payroll they have. You've just got to prepare yourself. I'm not looking at things any different. I want to win.”
Later the A’s manager Bob Melvin also stated and explained about the little rotation changes for the upcoming season that will also help them facing the challenges that they will face in the future.
Melvin said, “We still don't know what our team is going to look like, (but) the guys we do have moving forward I like a lot, I think if we do things fundamentally sound and we continue to pitch and get better defensively, we're going to win some games.”
No doubt these two new signings have made the Angels more influential in the AL but many experts also believe that the presence of these two world class players will also create more competiveness in the American League.
