The Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols finally ended the media created hype with all sorts of speculations and expert opinions that whether former St. Louis Cardinals’ player will be remain homerless in this ongoing Major League Baseball season or will gain his natural game back.
However, those speculations and his home run drought ended on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays when Pujols hit a 390 feet long home run.
"It's a relief for him. And I'm pretty sure it's a relief for us," teammate Torii Hunter said of Pujols, "We don't have to hear about Albert having a goose egg any more. I'm happy that he got this lifted off him. Now he can go out there and just swing and have fun."
Later Pujols said after hitting a wonderful homer, “I'm not performing the way that everybody's expecting, But I also know that it's only 27 games. You play 162 games. And at the end if you get into the postseason, that's what you play for. This game is about making adjustments.”
Pujols, who is world class player, certainly falls in a Hall of Fame selection. His 446 home runs always places him amongst the very best of Major League Baseball players while what he did on Sunday was just another tremendous skill of his.
Albert was coming with an enormous level of pressure where everybody was criticising his negative approach of being laid-back individual who is not taking his game seriously and putting his credentials in danger.
The Angels’ franchise was also under extreme pressure where they could not get the right answer to justify Albert Pujols’ hefty $240 million contract. They not only stopped commenting on any kind of topic which was related to Pujols, but they also never showed any frustrating view in the media which would tell that how anxious they are also of Albert getting coming into right form.
In the meanwhile, the Angels management is now happy for Pujols and his phenomenal come back, but they are also looking more confident going into the next phase of the competition. Until now, the Angels were virtually playing without Pujols, but as soon as he bounced back with his brilliant homer, the Angels’ entire roster feeling again that they are accompanied by a world class slugger.
