Albert Pujols makes Miami Marlins, team work for his trust -MLB Update
It is easy to see that team in Major League Baseball (MLB) are working hard towards acquiring the top free agent of the vast 2011 offseason market, Albert Pujols, but being so in-demand, the veteran player is keeping his options open and looking into every
possible way to secure the best deal.
The Miami Marlins are expected to be the frontrunners in the run to acquire the top notch player but according to general manager, Larry Beinfest, the team is completely revolutionised for the upcoming season and having Pujols on the line-up would be something
in the favour of the club.
"When you get the baseball community to recognize you, you bring a Heath Bell, a top-notch closer, brand new ballpark, new manager, new uniforms, new energy," Beinfest said. "I think you want to build on all of that. And hopefully that will attract players
to come. There could be a snowball effect. ... I think momentum can be helpful and snowball for you in a positive way. We'll see what happens."
In other reports, one of the more extreme rumours spread around the league were that in total, all the offers made by a few teams were worth nearly a whopping $600 million.
For one player, that is a whole lot of money, but seeing who the player it, it comes a no surprise as all the teams are doing everything in their power to make the best bid in a high profile auction.
Over the offseason, Miami has made a number of key acquisitions to change their team around for the upcoming season, which according to them is the best way which could fulfil the GM’s desires.
The signings of Heath Bell and Jose Reyes have been crucial for the team and a big lift, which could be the reason for some potentially big achievements next season.
It might not be clear where Albert Pujols will be heading during the offseason as the deadline to sign on also gets closer, but one thing is for sure that the Miami Marlins are ready to take on any challenge next season whether they have him on the team
or not.
