The Cardinals scored their initial runs during the first inning and took a 2-0 lead when Pujols struck a two-run homer (406 feet) towards left-field and Jon Jay posted a single run. In the second and third inning, the batters seemed ineffective and got out
onto infield positions.

up just one walk with two earned runs.
