Alberta Brianti ousts Ksenia Pervak in the second round of 2011 Grand Prix De SAR

Italian tennis-pro Alberta Brianti secured a thumping 7-5, 6-2 victory over Ksenia Pervak of Russia on Thursday to book a quarterfinal berth at the 2011 Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Morocco.
Pervak made an aggressive start to the match. She broke the serve early in the opening set and soon found herself leading the game score by 5-3. However, Alberta Brianti pulled things back with a wonderful double serve break. The
Italian broke the serve in the ninth and eleventh games of the set and then held on to her serve games to clinch the opener 7-5.
Brianti took complete advantage of her strong match position in the second set. She broke the serve twice and cemented her position in the contest with brilliant display of tennis. She seemed to come up with the right shot every
time it was needed. The 31-year-old smashed forehands and backhands all over the court and made the challenger run for her money. She converted the very first match point to complete her emphatic win.
With her strong attacking ability, Brianti forced her opponent into making mistakes. She also kept her defense in check and saved several vital points. Her on-court movement was excellent as she cashed in on the chances presented
to her. Brianti served with control and achieved 71 per cent first serve conversion.
Pervak on other hand failed to handle the heat and paid the price for her numerous unforced errors. She has given considerable results on the Women’s Tennis Association tour since the start of this season. The 19-year-old surprised
the critics by reaching quarterfinals at Monterrey Open and Miami International. She was hoping for another positive result on the red clay courts of Fes however as it turned out, she failed to handle the pressure and hence paid the price.
Brianti was extremely delighted with her advancement to the quarterfinal at the WTA tournament. The running season has a resulted in a lot of disappointment for the veteran tennis-pro as she did reach past the first round hurdle
in any of the WTA tournaments she has participated in.  The Italian will be hoping to continue her impressive form in her next matches as well.
Melanie Oudin of United States will be Brianti’s quarterfinal opponent. Oudin came back from a set deficit against Lourdes Dominguez Lino 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Ranked 94 in the world, Brianti will be looking to upset the rising American
star in the quarterfinals however at 31 years old; it will be difficult for her to keep same kind of consistency in her game.
