Aquilani was previously on loan to the fellow Serie A outfit Juventus FC and played the 2010/11 season for the Turin giants. The Italian international showed good consistency on the field and performed well. However, the output was not good enough to help
Juve keep their word and the Lady Killers did not exercise their right to buy the player outright at the end of the season.
On his return to Liverpool, the player revealed that he still wishes to play in Italy and wanted Juve to re-consider their decision. However, Fiorentina have stepped up and Aquilani is likely to be a part of the first team for the Tuscan giants.
It is reported that the Gigliati are offering 1.5 million Euros for the 27-year-old Italian international. The deal includes the option for Fiorentina to buy the player outright at the end of the upcoming term for 11 million Euros.
If reports are to be believed, the midfielder has sacrificed his salary by cutting it down to 2.2 million Euros from 3.6 million Euros per season. Despite there being no official news regarding the completion of the transfer as yet, the Corriere Fiorentino
newspaper claims that the transfer has already been completed and Aquilani would be wearing the number 10 jersey for the Voila in the 2011/12 season.
