Alberto Contador received immense support from his supporters from across the world
Team Saxo Bank Sungard’s main sponsor Saxo Bank has shown full faith in the Spanish cyclist, Alberto Contador, by casting him in their latest advert.
The cyclist is now promoting the bank’s new online service which appeared on the full page of Sunday’s L’Equipe. Contador was pictured wearing the Team Saxo Bank’s jersey with a huge smile on his face.
The ad reads, “We support clients in their moments of success and also of difficulty, and this is equally valid for our riders”.
The Spaniard is facing the toughest time of his career and he is definitely in need of such support, which will help him focus his concentration towards the sport.
Alberto of accused of using clenbuterol during the Tour de France 2010 and both UCI and WADA appealed against the Spanish Cycling Federation’s decision at CAS.
Court of Arbitration for Sport handed a two-year-ban to the cyclist, which prohibits him from cycling till the 5th of August 2012.
He has also been stripped off from all the victories since the French Grand Tour 2010.
The 29-year-old is keen to make his comeback with the Danish team after serving the ban that will prevent him from riding some of the major cycling events.
Contador will not be able to ride the Tour de France, Giro d’ Italia and the Olympic Games in the season ahead. The only Grand Tour race he is allowed to participate in the coming year is the Vuelta a Espana 2012.
The cyclist has already started training to compete at the remaining part of the year. He posted on his twitter page, “Going back to work, Sacrifice and hard training, this is our sole secret”.
“Thanks all for your expressions of support. I am extremely grateful. This will make me train harder still ‘Where there is will there's a way,’” he continued.
Alberto is hopeful for a strong come back to professional cycling as he is training hard to make the most of the time.
He was quoted as saying, "Right now even though my morale is low I know I'll come back just as strong".
The cyclist has received immense support in different ways as the local Pinto’s football club wore pink and yellow colours to admire Contador’s 2010 Tour and 2011 Giro victories.
