Alberto Contador stars in a television series "Fenómenos"
As the 2012 season approaches its end, most of the cycling world is quite busy enjoying the time-off from their hectic routine.
While some are enjoying with their families back home, Alberto Contador of Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank is rather busy in the off-season, just completed his role in the television series, "Fenómenos" broadcasted on Antena 3.
The Spanish comedy series focuses on a radio station that reports a paranormal activity and Contador role is nothing more than a brief guest appearance.
The Vuelta a Espana winner enjoys his time on set, however it is less likely that he will consider taking on a permanent role on the show.
"Alberto really liked the idea of starring as an 'actor' and participating in one of the chapters in this comedy, in which some cases can be counted as a bit crazy," wrote a release on his website.
"The series, which will begin airing soon, will not only Alberto's cameo, but with those of other well-known athletes such as former tennis player Carlos Moya and former basketball player Jorge Garbajosa."
The Spaniard had a disappointing start to the 2012 season after Court of Arbitration for Sport handed him a two-year ban for using performance enhancing drugs previously in his career.
He was accused of using clenbuterol during the Tour de France 2010 and the final decision on his case was made in January 2012.
The jury was convinced that Contador doped during the Tour de France 2010 and banned him from professional cycling for a period of two-years.
Alberto was also stripped-off from all his victories since the 2010 version of the French race which include two Grand Tour overall victories.
The 29-year-old returned to professional cycling at the Eneco Tour 2012 and achieved the fourth overall position at the race.
Contador’s fourth place finish was good enough to give him the right form ahead of the biggest goal of the season, the Vuelta a Espana 2012 and he claimed an overall victory at the race with yet another impressive performance.
The Spaniard succeeded during the 17th stage of the Spanish race and filled his bag with a first place finish at the Milano-Torino 2012.
Alberto has already set his eyes at his favourite Grand Tour race of the season, the Tour de France 2012 and is optimistic to settle for nothing less than an overall victory at the French Grand Tour this year.
