The Rossoblu striker has stated that he has his eyes set on the number 11 jersey that he has always wore, and has stressed that he is looking forward to making a good start in the upcoming season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-Gilardino-c4324 has voiced his loyalty for Genoa, stating that he will not be looking to move away from the club in the summer transfer window.
The striker has been linked with an exit from the Rossoblu, after troublesome six-months with the club following his move from Fiorentina.
Gilardino stated that he has a special interest in wearing the number 11 jersey at his new outfit, and revealed that he chose to settle for the no 82 last season because that was his year of birth.
The Rossoblu striker stressed that he has always worn the no 11 shirt in all the clubs he has been to, and insisted that while the jersey belongs to Jankovic at the time, he will have to see what can be done about it.
While talking to Sky Sport Italia, the 30-year-old said:
“I wore the No 82 last season, but that was because when I arrived all that was free was the year of my birth. I’ve always worn the No 11, but that, for the time being, belongs to Jankovic. We’ll see what happens between now and August 31…”
Genoa did not end their 2011-12 campaign on a good note, and were left struggling for survival in the closing stages of the season.
Gilardino stated that he is looking to make a good start to the new campaign, and insisted that he wants to respect the five-year contract with the club.
The Rossoblu striker insisted that he is indebted to the Grifone for the trust that they have put in him, and stressed that he is eager to repay the favour through some promising performances for his team.
“The objective now is to start the campaign well. There are two months to prepare well and I personally have a five-year contract here. I hope to have the faith of my club and I’ll do my best to pay them back for that.” He added.
