The Spanish defender has claimed that last year when the Spanish national team was playing, there were problems within the squad because of the controversial El Clasico’s.
The Spanish La Liga is dominated by two of the best teams in not only http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, but also in Europe.
Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are the two sides who have won the highest number of titles in La Liga while Los Blancos also boast an extraordinary record in Europe, winning nine European titles – a feat which no other team has managed to achieve.
Despite the rivalry between these two clubs, players from both these teams make up the Spanish squad which has managed to win two Euros and one FIFA World Cup.
Therefore, since the two clubs with such a big rivalry join together, there are problems within the team and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Albiol admits that now players from both the parties have settled down, but there were a lot of problems till last season.
Last season, Real Madrid were trying to break down Barcelona’s dominance over Spanish football and since La Blaugrana were on a three-year winning streak, Jose Mourinho was on a mission to win the Spanish La Liga title.
Therefore, the fixtures between these two teams, Barcelona and Real Madrid, often ended with a bitter taste left for the players as there were many events which led to war of words and problems on the pitch.
While speaking about how the Spanish squad is coping up despite the two rival teams coming together, Raul Albiol said:
“It’s true things were not so rosy then. We weren’t exactly trading insults at dinner but there was some tension. Relationships were different but that’s all in the past.
“The Clasicos are different now. There is still the same will to win and they are tremendously competitive, but now people talk about the goals and not about the fighting.
“In the end it’s just football and we can’t kill each other out on the pitch. Rivalry and tension is normal and sometimes you can lose your head due to the pressure.”
Currently the Spanish team is on a winning run in the FIFA World Cup 2014’s qualifiers as they had to play two games, against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, and they have won the first one 4-0.
