Barcelona youngster, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-c34888 Alcantara, has taken out time to rebuke talk about La Blaugrana’s era of dominance coming to an end.
The Spanish international was very vocal in his views and stated that he found talk about Barca struggling to be hilarious.
The youngster spoke against any statement that suggested that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 is running out of success. He maintained that the Spanish giants are still and will be the best team in the world despite the issues the club has faced as of late.
Pep Guardiola’s men have appeared to be struggling in the Spanish La Liga as they are currently ten points behind Real Madrid at the top of the Spanish Primera Division’s league standings. Many have predicted that the current Spanish champions are bound
to finish this season’s campaign poised at the second place.
Although they are known to be the strongest team in the world, many have commented that Barcelona’s glory days are nearing a conclusion.
However, with the Liga BBVA title appearing to be out of reach of the Catalan giants, they are still up and running in the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey.
The Catalans are likely to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League after they defeated Bayer Leverkusen 1-3 away from home, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the competition.
In addition, La Blaugrana have already qualified for the final of the Copa del Rey and will face Athletic Bilbao in the final.
Hence, Alcantara has spoken out to defend his team and has insisted that the Camp Nou-based outfit will continue to achieve more success in the future.
While talking to reporters, the 20-year-old was quoted as saying:
"It makes me laugh because good players keep coming out of La Masia who are hungry for titles. Then you see the veterans, who have won it all with the same ambition. Young people move things forward. So, it’s a good combination."
"It's happened that our rivals have gotten to know us better and that Madrid have been better, so they have gone top. But Barca are still the team to beat."
Barcelona faced Atletico Madrid away from home in their previous Spanish La Liga fixture and came out as 1-2 winners. However, with Real Madrid also winning their weekend fixture against Rayo Vallecano, the gap between the two sides remains at 10 points.
