The Barcelona youngster recently picked up an injury but after recovering, he managed to make it into the starting line-up against Granada, helping Barcelona win all three points in the league.
Tito Vilanova is never scared of testing younger players in difficult games and that is exactly what happened as La Blaugrana faced Granada over the weekend.
The Spanish giants were favourites to win the match against Granada as it was taking place at the Nou Camp, but the visitors were able to give the former Spanish champions a really hard time.
Vilanova started the game with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-c34888 Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas in the midfield.
The midfield trio was working perfectly in terms of passing but they found it really hard to penetrate through the Granada defensive walls and it was not until the 87th minute when Barcelona scored the first goal of the game, all thanks to Xavi
Hernandez who came off from the bench to give his side the lead.
Thiago Alcantara started the game for the Spanish giants and managed to show the world that in the near future he will be able to replace Xavi Hernandez in the Barcelona starting line-up.
However, he will definitely take time in order to become as good as Xavi is at the moment, a player who has won each and every title within his vicinity.
While speaking about his return into the Barcelona team, Alcantara stated that he feels good and the he wishes that he didn’t miss the Olympic Games and the Euro 2012 which the Spanish national team won.
While speaking about his form, the Barcelona youngster stated:
“I feel good. I’ve made a good recovery both physically and mentally and am slowly getting back the form I showed before, although I can only do this by playing matches.”
“All this time I’ve not had to sacrifice anything in my attacking game and I’m privileged. The only sacrifice I made over the summer was to miss the Olympic Games and Euro 2012.”
While speaking about Barcelona as a team, the 21-year-old stated:
“We are now taking shape and what we want is to be in a good position at the end of the season.”
