Does drinking alcohol have an affect on a person's asthma? Asthmatics, this question is for you. When you drink alcohol, does it make your asthma worse? Better? Or does it have no affect on it whatsoever? Because when I drink, my asthma symptoms are temporarily reduced. I don't have any asthma symptoms at all. Is this normal with you asthmatics?

  1. matters how much of it you drink, to much makes me feel wheesy, but a couple pints neva hurt!

  2. I have not noticed a difference.  However, alcohol is a "downer" so it makes sense that when you are more relaxed your asthma symptoms seem to be reduced.  I do not think it has to do with the alcohol itself, but with the physiological effect that the alcohol has on your body.

  3. I notice that alcohol triggers my asthma, but this is especially true when I drink red wine, so it's probably the sulfite and not the alcohol itself.
