Alcohol Question Please Help ?!?

Last night i had a shot of Bacardi Gold, and when i drank it my throat closed a little for like 10 seconds. I could still breathe but it was hard. I have never drank before except one time I had a shot of vodka but nothing happened?

Do you know why?

I've never been allergic to anything before..

If you are not used to drinking shots this will do it to you.

Another thing is the proof of the liquor. Most people who drink shots become accustomed to 80 proof, the usual strength of liquor. When they try shots with higher proof they get the reaction you experienced, especially with some 100 proof drinks.

Be very careful when you have this reaction. Your body is trying to tell you something.

I don't think it was an allergic reaction, but possibly a slight chemical burn. Try using a chaser next time to wash the alcohol down and cool your throat.
