Question:

Alcohol and panic attacks?

I have recently developed panic attacks. I've had something to drink only a few times in the past and it was a good experience. I didn't overdo it and felt a lot more comfortable around people. However, I've read that alcohol can cause panic attacks. Will having one or two drinks once or twice a week increase panic attacks? I'm not on any medication. Thanks.

  2. Alcohol definitely CAN cause panic attacks, esp. when you've sobered up a little and your brain has to readjust to reality. I'm talking about getting wasted, though. 1 or 2 2wice a week doesn't sound out of line. Try not drinking for 2 or 3 weeks and see if they decrease.

  3. I never have heard about alcohol causing panic attacks, as it is a depressant, which is a calming thing.  Unless you are an angry, belligerent drunk always looking for a fight! lol. Good luck.

  4. o no they don't cause panic attacks. but if you don't drink enough alcohol then the panic attacs increase.so make sure you drink lots and lots otherwise youwillhave tons more panic attacs!!!!

  5. I dont really know about panic attacks but I suffer from depression and and used to drink a lot. I started getting really bad anxiety pains which my psychiatrist said was down to the alcohol so maybe its the same for panic attacks
