  1. no you dont have to stop completely, just make sure it doesnt ruin any bit of your life.  sounds like you have it under control anyways.  also as a rule of thumb, they say if you can go one month and one day, you most likely dont have a problem

  2. Alcoholics run in my family as well.  I hate beer, cant even stand the smell of it.  I like liquor.  I just drink on the weekends if anything.  Maybe like a friday night and/or sat night.  Not to overdue it though.  Cause you can form a habit to it.  Just take it easy.  Cause if you dont, then yes you will form a habit, and then alcoholism is a factor, not that it isnt now, but it will be for good.  Once you are an alcoholic, you will be one forever. It is a disease.

  3. well my family has an alcoholic nature but if you have da control when 2 stop then ya should be fine if not go to an aa ceminar

  4. One way to approach this is to drink socially, but never get drunk.  If you're going to drink, drink because there's something you actually like the taste to (a good wine for example), but not for the buzz of it.

Remember, as long as you are conscious that you are making a choice, and can always stop, within and outside the presence of alcohol, you shouldn't worry too much.

  5. it depends on you strong you are ive talked to people they say the same thing and i tell them ya but you can make up your own mind if you know that your family has a problem and you have one stay away from it but me my father and his whole family are  alcoholics he has been sober now for 13 years or so and i drink but i only go out once a week and i limit myself to 3 drinks no more and no shots if im drinking flavored fruity drink with shots in them if its a beer night i will have 2 beers and no shots unless someone buys me one and i only have one ya it can be hard sometimes cause in the town i live in there are alot of alcoholics and i dont get drunk and i get made fun of sometimes to but thats okay i tell them at least i can walk a strait line lol . but its all up to you and how well you can control yourself

  6. there is nothing proving that it is genetic it all just depend all will power like everyone in my family drinks everyone! from my grandparents to parents everyone! my grandfather was a major alcholic and all his children r too except for one! out of eight! he has never in life taken so much as a sip! i drink every now and then and i know i wont b an alcoholic because i c the way my family is and i dont want to b the same

  7. "Addictive" tendencies are hereditary, but an addiction can be to anything: drugs, alcohol, orther chemical substances are the most known; but there are also the addictions to anything else like, fitness, eating, sports, gambling, etc.

So, if you're family does have addictive tendencies, it would be best to evaluate the reasons why you choose to drink, as well as the ways you feel before, during, and after drinking (and I dont mean the sensation of being drunk, or the shitiness of a hangover) if you feel withdrawal afterwards or other addictive signs, I would stay away. If you feel you could have a problem, I would avoid it, but don't let the fear decide for you, be wary of the signals your body/mind give you, and proceed with cAuTiOn!
