I heard my father talking to a friend today and he said that he (my father) drinks 120 beers a week - 17 a day. I was just wondering if this could be considered alcoholism.

He is never abusive or anything but he does get angry easily. then again so do i, and i dont drink.

I was just wondering if it was alcoholism because it really scared me when he said this. i remember a few years ago it was only 6 beers a day.

  1. There is no particular level of alcohol intake at which a person can be considered an "alcoholic"...but regardless of what label you want to place on your father's drinking, it is obviously way outside what anyone would consider normal drinking.  Drinking at this level will damage his liver, heart, and brain.  He is at high risk of cancer and accidents.  He has a problem...I mean if 17 beers a day isn't a problem, then I can't imagine what would be.

  5. Hi Lauren,
