The Belgian stopper has long been linked with a number of European clubs including AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and many more, but the 23-year-old has now dismissed all reports that were linking him with a January exit.
Ajax Amsterdam centre-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toby-Alderweireld-c35183, has mooted all speculations that were linking him with a move away from Amsterdam Arena in the upcoming January transfer window.
The 23-year-old, who has been with De Joden since making his professional career debut in the 2008/09 campaign, has been putting in solid performances for the past couple of seasons.
His consistent showings at the back have attracted him interest from several elite European clubs including the likes of AC Milan, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Bayern Munich.
Reports in Dutch media suggested that the Belgian stopper would be moving abroad in the upcoming winter transfer market. However, the talented central defender has dismissed all the reports and has made it clear that he does not intend to leave the Eredivisie
champions halfway through the season.
“If the time is right, it will come, but now Ajax is the most important thing. Therefore I expect that I can be watched in the ArenA after the winter break”, Alderweireld said while talking to reporters.
The 23-year-old went on to admit that the Amsterdammers are one of the best clubs in Europe, and playing for them his whole career will not be a problem. However, the highly-rated centre-back has insisted that a move to Emirates Stadium or White Hart Lane
would be hard to turn down.
“Ajax is a very nice club. It won't be hard to play here all my life - but if I had to choose it have to be a nice club like Ajax again and there aren't many of them, a club such as Arsenal or Tottenham. They are fantastic clubs and would be a step forward”,
Alderweireld concluded.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 international, who has thus far donned the jersey of De Joden in well over 100 games in all competitions since making his debut in January 2009, is undoubtedly one of the best central defenders playing in the highest echelons of Dutch football.
The 23-year-old is confident while holding the ball, and is often seen helping his teammates with his surging runs forward. He often loses aerial challenge, especially in the penalty area. In addition, his right footed long-range efforts on goal often surprise
the oppositions.
Alderweireld has a contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the end of the 2013/14 campaign. Even though, the Belgian defender has made his intentions of staying with the Eredivisie champions until the end of the ongoing season, an offer in the region
of 12 million Euros from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 or Hotspur could very well tempt the club management and the player himself to move abroad.
