Aldiartama Arya Maulana-Subaktiar Edi win Boy’s Doubles crown at Badminton Asia Youth Championships
Indonesia’s talented young shuttlers Aldiartama Arya Maulana and Subaktiar Edi showed their lofty craft on court as grabbed Boy’s Doubles crown at the Badminton Asia Youth Under 19 Championships 2012 in Korea, on Saturday, July 7.
The in-form Aldiartama and Subaktiar showed their elevated class and overpowered Wang Chi Lin and Wu Hsiao Lin of Chinese Taipei in an interesting final battle.
Aldiartama and Subaktiar, who were seeded at number four in Boy’s Doubles world rankings, played at their best to wrap up victory against their un-seeded Taipei opponents in rubber games by taking 45 minutes on court.
The higher ranked Indonesian players could not find a good start and went down to their rivals in first game but they managed to win the second game with a tight score. However, they remained on track in the deciding set and bagged it easily.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Wang Chi and Wu Hsiao displayed a phenomenal performance as they won the opening game easily. However, they remained unlucky in the second set and lost it with a tight score which destroyed their confidence and they lost
the final set easily.
In the first game, both pairs entertained the crowd with their impressive attacking play as they executed jumping smashes coupled with net killings. The score was close from both sides until the break.
After the interval, Aldiartama and Subaktiar could not maintain their positive run and eventually went down in opening game with a margin of 17-21.
In the second game, the local fans could not have expected for more thrilling fight as both pairs put up wonderful show of top quality badminton and remained close until the ending points.
The score was 20-20 when Aldiartama and Subaktiar played impressive badminton by hitting the bird in right areas and took the set with a tight score of 22-20.
In the final set, Aldiartama and Subaktiar were everywhere on court and they played controlled badminton. They were impressive in the execution of shots and took the deciding game easily with a stunning margin of 21-10.
Aldiartama and Subaktiar won Boy’s Doubles title in three games with a sensational 17-21, 22-20 and 21-10 score on the board.
