Aldworth Pebbles stands first in Williamhill.com Stakes at Newcastle on Feb 1
It was a fortunate evening for J. J. Fenwick, as his trained hounds performed marvellously at Newcastle on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Aldworth Pebbles, Droopys Vieri’s daughter out of Bunlahy Just, cruised to victory in the 480 metre long Grade A1
Williamhill.com Stakes.
The blue and white b***h is certainly one of the highly regarded hounds in the town. However, she was not sent as the favourite for this race, as Fagans Kiko was enjoying the favourite tag.
Her starting price was 3 to 1, however, the b***h defeated the rest of the line-up comfortably, sealing the top position by 3 ¼ lengths. She remained ahead by a decent margin throughout the competition, and reached the winning post in 29.34 seconds.
Ballymac Nap, trained by J Wright, showed a clear run, but her speed was not good enough to overtake the triumphant hound. The black b***h managed to secure the runner-up position, clocking the distance in 29.60 seconds. It was an astonishing performance
from Burnpark Champ’s daughter out of Dromana Dainty, as she made a fine ending despite going wide early on.
While the two b*****s confirmed top-2 seats comprehensively, the contest for the third place was a real thriller. Rustys Bar, and Fagans Kiko were the two candidates for the position, but the former eventually secured the slot by a neck’s margin.
With the chances of 7 to 2, R. Kirk trainee kicked off the affair from the third spot. The white and brindle dog failed to defy the first two position holders, as he was forced to check. However, he didn’t let anyone else to heap misery on him, beating
the favourite dog after a close contest. He touched the finishing line in 29.70 seconds.
Despite his early pace, Fagans Kiko was unable to end up among top-3. The bettors would have not expected the 2 to 1 favourite to show such a poor show, as he took 29.73 seconds to conclude the race. Top Savings’s high profile son out of Fagans Hope
gave away his early advantage by going wide on the track.
Canny Carlin, sent as the 9 to 2 choice, finished fifth on the chart. It took him 29.79 seconds to finish the event, three quarters of a length adrift of Fagans Kiko. Completing the finishing order, Black Ops covered the area in 30.09 seconds. His
starting price of 8 to 1 was the lowest in the Heat.
J. J. Fenwick’s favourite hound could not live up to his reputation. However, Aldworth Pebbles’s made her trainer’s evening quite enjoyable by nabbing the top slot.
