Aldworth Pebbles stands first in Williamhill.com Stakes at Newcastle on Jan 25
Williamhill.com Stakes was hosted at Newcastle on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. The 480 metre long Grade A1 Heat proved to be a nightmare for Old Fort Slippy, who was rated as the favourite ahead of the competition.
The brindle b***h was holding the odds of 6 to 4, but could not live up to her reputation. After being baulked, she finished last on the table.
While Old Fort Slippy, performed below par, Aldworth Pebbles emerged as the star of the show. The blue and white b***h, which was carrying the odds of 6 to 1, put up a fine show to seal the first position.
J. J. Fenwick’s trainee covered the area in 29.37 seconds, and scooped a cash prize of £118.
Droopys Vieri’s daughter out of Bunlahy Just, maintained a decent lead all the way through, and that helped her clinch the top position by 2 ¼ lengths.
Droopys Mahers’ second place on the table was also a shocking result for the spectators. The black dog, Boherduff Light’s son out of Droopys Mynah, was the least favourite in the heat, carrying the winning chances of 10 to 1.
However, his clear run helped him complete the race in 29.55 seconds, one length ahead of the third placed b***h.
The third place belonged to Mustang Madison, Flying Penske’s daughter out of Devotion. With the starting price of 5 to 1, the white and black b***h started off her run from the third place. The P Rutherford-trained crossed the wire in 29.63 seconds.
She was chased by Target Mystery, who failed by a head’s margin to end up in the top 3. The blue b***h clocked the area in 29.65 seconds, after her discharge from the sixth stall. Her starting price was 3 to 1 – the second highest in the heat after
Old Fort Slippy.
Canny Caleb managed to finish fifth on the chart. After leaving the stand with the winning probability of 4 to 1, Ballymac Maeve’s son out of Canny Keepsake concluded the competition in 30.09 seconds.
Falling 6 ¾ lengths short of the second last placed hound, Old Fort Slippy took 30.63 seconds to wrap up the proceedings.
Aldworth Pebbles has registered her first victory this year. Her convincing triumph will definitely enhance her starting value for the upcoming races.
