Alec Cohen conquers Men’s 400m freestyle final: Day three – 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals
Alec W Cohen of RAYS conquered the gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle meet on day three of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals, which are taking place in Athens, Georgia, USA.
The 18-year-old Cohen won the title of event in a phenomenal time of 3 minutes and 56.43 seconds. The gold medallist was in a prominent lead over his fellow swimmers and comfortably won the gold medal of the event. He was followed by Tom J Luchsinger of
Three Village, who remained 0.73 seconds behind the champion swimmer and touched the wall in a time of 3 minutes and 57.16 seconds for the silver medal. Similarly, the 20-year-old Luchsinger was in a lead of almost 1.5 seconds over his closest competitor and
Cohen’s team-member, Jimmy S Yoder, who submitted a third fastest effort of 3 minutes and 58.67 seconds for the bronze medal.
The 15-year-old Yoder out- touched his closest competitor, John T Stilley with a difference of only 0.01 seconds. SwimMac Carolina’s Stilley, was the fourth fastest swimmer of the meet, as he completed his race in a time of 3 minutes and 58.68 seconds. He
was followed by Steven M Kekacs of ASL, who was nearly one second behind Stilley and touched the wall in a fifth fastest time of 3 minutes and 59.44 seconds. Riley C Martin of CARD proved his eligibility for the sixth fastest spot, by posting a time of 4 minutes
and 01.64 seconds.
Jameson Hill of ABSC emerged as the seventh best swimmer of the 400m race, by reporting in a time of 4 minutes and 03.54 seconds. Hill was 0.89 seconds faster than his closest competitor, Evan M Reed of NCAC, who occupied the eighth position of the distant
freestyle swim, by submitting an effort of 4 minutes and 04.43 seconds.
Cohen expressed happiness over his wonderful victory and said that he will try his best to impress his fans in future events. In addition, the winners received medals for their impeccable swims after the completion of the session.
