Alec Page conquers Men’s 400m IM gold – Southwest Classic Invitational, Arizona
Alec Page of Canada conquered gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) at the 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, May 5.
The 18-year-old Page stunned the arena with his dazzling performance in the 400m discipline. With his notable efforts and impressive pace, he overpowered his challengers in a comfortable manner and tapped the wall first for gold medal.
His commendable pace placed him almost 10 metres ahead of his closest challenger as he clocked a time of 4 minutes and 31.96 seconds for gold medal.
His title-claiming effort remained almost nine seconds faster from his subsequent competitor, Alex P Wold, who finished his swim in second best place and hit the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 40.01 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was followed by Eric M Solis of Ford Aquatics-AZ, who stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 51.28 seconds.
Subsequently, Derek G Knittle of UASU-AZ was only 0.16 seconds slower from upsetting the third position holder and hit the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 51.44 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth position of the 400m discipline was obtained by Caleb P Veazey of DM-NT, who remained almost three seconds slower from the fourth position holder and tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 54.26 seconds.
Similarly, Veazey remained nearly three seconds faster from Kyle L Ewoldt of SDA-AZ, who remained prominent for sixth position of the discipline and tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 57.02 seconds.
Ewoldt was trailed by Mark Jurek of Gmsc-AZ, who stayed 2.08 seconds away from him and produced a timing of 4 minutes and 59.10 seconds for seventh position.
After that, Karl M Boscacci of UASU-AZ occupied eighth finishing spot of the race as he completed his swim in a time of 5 minutes and 02.62 seconds.
The session ended after the completion of all planned events while the position holders were awarded medals for their stupendous efforts in the 400m IM after the session.
