Aleem Dar comes out in favour of the use of technology – Cricket News Update
One of the best umpires in the world, Pakistan's http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aleem-Sarwar-Dar-c43094, has urged the governing body of the game to use technology on a consistent basis as he feels that one poor decision by the on-field umpire can change the course of a match.
Over the years, there has been a huge debate going on in the world of cricket about the role of on-field umpires and the use of modern technology in making decisions. There are two schools of thoughts in this regard - one feels that technology is not perfect
and it is good for the game if the umpires are allowed to make decisions in the ground according to their judgment with the naked eye. Many former cricketers also believe that the element of human error is always going to remain in the sport and it actually
makes the game more interesting.
However, the other school of thought is of the opinion that when technology is there, it must be fully utilized in order to make sure that there are lesser umpiring mistakes in the game. Although technology is not perfect, it definitely helps the umpires
in making better decisions.
While speaking to Pakpassion, Dar revealed that some of the umpires do not like technology but at the end of the day, umpires are for the game and the game is not made for the umpires.
"Some umpires do find it uncomfortable having to reverse a decision that they have made in front of thousands at the ground and millions on television. But umpires are human they will make mistakes too. One incorrect decision can change the whole scenario
of a match and that's why I am in favour of the DRS," said Dar.
The best umpire of the world, who hails from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, further added that proper use of technology will make the game better and fair.
He added, “To have the use of consistent elements of technology at each match would make it easier for players, spectators and umpires alike. DRS ensures that most decisions can be corrected."
