Aleem Dar dedicates his award to flood and dengue victims of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aleem-Sarwar-Dar-c43094, the Elite Panel Umpire, has dedicated his International Cricket Council’s ‘Umpire of the Year’ award to the Pakistani victims of floods and dengue virus, hoping that his nation will soon get rid of these predicaments.
Dar achieved the award for third time in a row on Monday, September 12, in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625’s annual awards ceremony, held in central London.
The top umpire paid tribute to the courage of the Pakistanis who are fighting against all odds bravely.
Talking to the media, the winner said, “Pakistan is presently facing so many problems from the floods, dengue disease and even otherwise. Yet we fight on and that is amazing for me. I see this award as a feel good factor for my fellow Pakistanis. In my own
capacity, I want to win more awards for my country.”
Like the past years, the full-fledged monsoon season has triggered severe floods and an outbreak of dengue across the country. Both these calamities are causing enormous damage to the lives and properties of the people.
Dar also voiced his desire that International cricket teams resume touring Pakistan and relieve the county from the cricket blackout that it has been experiencing since the last couple of years.
He told, “I think the ICC and other member nations can help us a lot because the Pakistani people are cricket fanatics and very passionate about their team. It is sad that in the last two years no team has toured Pakistan and I hope that changes soon."
Pakistan has not hosted even a single International cricket match since the deadly terrorist attacks on the visiting Sri Lankan team in 2009. The widespread militancy and exacerbated law and order situation in the county has rendered its cricket grounds
deserted.
Dar, who made his umpiring debut in 2000, has proved to be the most successful Asian umpire in ICC's Elite Panel. He is famous for his flawless decisions on the field. In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, all his decisions were accurate and perfect.
The 43-year-old has not played even a single International game during his career which consists of just 17 First-Class and 18 List A matches.
