Aleem Dar feels poor planning cost Pakistan the semi-final of ICC World Cup 2011 against India
Elite panel umpire of the International Cricket Council, Aleem Dar of Pakistan has said that poor planning and lack of guidance in Mohali led to Pakistan cricket team’s 29-run defeat against India in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2011.
Dar, who officiated the high-pressure World Cup final between the two Asian cricketing giants India and Sri Lanka, said that the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 have the potential to beat any team in the world. He said that the overall performance of Pakistan cricket team
in the mega event was satisfactory but two or three wrong decisions in the semi-final against India led to their elimination from the tournament.
Talking to media, Dar played down the speculations of match-fixing or differences in the Pakistan cricket team. He said that it was not match-fixing or any other illegal deed that cost Pakistan the game against India rather it was due to lack of an appropriate
plan B that the team failed to chase a manageable target of 261 runs.
He said that had Pakistan taken the batting Powerplay after 35 overs, the situation would have been quite different in the last five overs.
He praised Pakistan team for reaching the knockout stage after finishing the league stage at the top of their group. However, he insisted that the Pakistan players need to work hard to overcome their deficiencies. He also stressed upon the board officials
and selection committee to inject fresh blood in the Pakistan team.
Dar, who was adjudged as the ICC 2010 Umpire of the Year for the second consecutive time, was the most successful umpire of the mega event as not a single decision of him was overturned through the Umpire Decision Review System.
