Alejandro Berrio to make ring return on June 15 against Evert Bravo – Boxing News
Alejandro Berrio, former super middleweight champion, will be making his ring return against Evert Bravo on June 15 at the Coliseo Cubierto Elias Chegwin in Barranquilla, Colombia. The event will be a ten round bout and will take place on Friday.
Berrio currently stands with 32 wins, 5 losses and 29 knockouts, where his Bravo stands with 18 wins, 4 losses, 1 tie and 14 knockouts. When asked about his condition, Berrio replied, “I know I can beat anyone in the world if I’m 100 percent focused. I’ve
proven that I’m a fighter that can compete on the championship stage. I’m looking to knock out my opponent and move on to a big fight, hopefully a world title shot.”
On the other hand, his promoter Mario Yagobi iterated, “He’s a powerful puncher and is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. He has talent and he’s hungry to get back on top. A big opportunity lies ahead if he can win this fight.”
Berrio has defeated some of the best fighters in the industry during his career. He was able to beat Robert Stieglitz and then Yusaf Mack. Both of these fighters were unbeaten when Berrio beat them.
For now, it is important for Berrio to win his upcoming bout, in order to make a statement. He surely is a gifted fighter but provided his recent performance has not been god enough, Berrio needs to buck up. In 2007, Alejandro was defeated by Carl Froch
of Britain. His recent run as a challenger has not been successful which makes him a fighter less known. If he was able to maintain good show in his last few fights, he would have been among the best fighters today.
Not only for Berrio, even for Evert Bravo, this is a career making or breaking fight. If Bravo is able to defeat Berrio, his stature will rise and he will get better fights, against more popular opponents with bigger prize purse. On June 15, when both fighters
collide, it will be a fight for surviving in the game and so both the pugilists are expected to give in their best.
