Alejandro Fabbri beats Duilio Beretta in second round qualifier – Uruguay Open 2011 CH
The men’s single s qualifying stage and the 2011 Uruguay Open entered into the second round on November 12, 2011 when Alejandro Fabbri (Argentina) played against Duilio Beretta (Peru). The Argentinean won the match in straight
sets, 6-2, 6-2.
As the first set began, Fabbri looked in control as he scored two aces and played with caution. He did not concede any double fault and remained in the lead from the early goings of the set.
His first serve winning ratio was 52% as compared to Beretta’s 54%, but the Argentinean was using his service games for his advantage.
The 29-year old Fabbri won 82% points from the first server and 70% from his second serve. The 19-year old Peruvian was on the back foot in his service games and could not gain any sort of edge in the set.
Beretta, ranked at the 376th spot in the world, won 62% points from his first serve. He could not maintain his service games as he could only win 45% points from his second serve.
Fabbri was effective in the first set with his service games and got the lead that he maintained throughout the set. He did not let Beretta break any of his serves giving Fabbri the chance to take on a decisive lead in the set.
Beretta could only save one breakpoint put of the three that he faced.
The Peruvian player won two games in the first set but Beretta could not move any further into the set as Fabbri won the first set 6-2.
With the second set in progress, Fabbri was again on the offensive as he scored two aces and conceded only a single double fault. Beretta, on the other hand, could not score any ace but his frustration forced him to concede four
double faults.
Beretta was higher in terms of first serve winning percentage, as he had a 52% winning ratio while Fabbri had a 48% winning rate.
Fabbri won 69% points from his first serve and 57% points from his second. On the other hand, Beretta could win 45% points from his first serve and in his second serve, he could only win 20% points. The Peruvian player was unable
to counter any shots by Fabbri.
His service games were out of target and could not give him any points.
The Peruvian again managed to win only two games in the second set but failed to win any more matches.
Fabbri, with his decent run with the racquet throughout the match, provided him with the opportunities to win games and eventually won the second set 6-2. Fabbri now moves into the next round of the 2011 Uruguay Open.
