Alejo Muniz eliminates Jadson Andre in Round 3 of Quiksilver Pro France – 2011 ASP World Tour
The eleven stop 2011 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour has hit the beaches of France with the Quiksilver Pro France. The event has kept treating the fans to a heavy dose of thrilling action with the latest match up between Brazil’s Alejo
Muniz and his compatriot, Jadson Andre, in the eighth heat of Round 3 on Sunday, October 9, at the iconic beach-break of La Graviere in France.
The battle turned out to be pretty one-sided, with Muniz taking control of the heat early on and holding on to it until the very end to walk away with top honours, consequently confirming his place in the fourth round while removing his opponent, Andre,
from contention for the event title.
The competition between the two Brazilians was expected to be really intense as both of them looked to be in top form. Despite the shifting nature of the waves, both of them had done extremely well to adjust to the tricky conditions and come up with outstanding
performances on the first day of the competition to jump directly into Round 3. There were much better waves on offer on Sunday, though the surfers had to utilise their experience and count on their luck to get a lock on the juicier ones.
As the eighth heat of Round 3 kicked off, the 21-year-old Muniz got down to business right away and caught a wave in the opening minutes on the battle to throw down a string of decent tricks to post a 6.50 on the score-board. Andre kept his rival from getting
a huge advantage over him by responding with a 4.83-point wave almost instantly, keeping the battle very much alive.
A few minutes later, Andre went for a relatively tricky wave to try and squeeze something decent out of it, but only managed to collect a 3.93 off it, which took him to a heat-total of 8.76 points. Even though he found himself in the lead, it was too volatile
to give him any comfort and it seemed that that the Round 4 spot had eluded him.
Muniz soon performed the coup de grace on his countryman by scoring a 6.10 off his second business-wave, sealing the fate of the contest in his favour with a heat-total of 12.60 points. His superior performance served to guarantee his place in the next round,
while marking the end of the road for Andre.
