Aleksandr Belenov has shruged off injury fears and tips the Russian outfit to claim a decent spot at the end of the Russian Premier League season.
FC Kuban Krasnodar first choice goalkeeper, Aleksandr Belenov, has shared his impressions after returning to the Kuban stadium from the Russian Premier League winter break and shared his views after attending the first training
session with his beloved club.
The former Spartak Moscow player went on to admit that he had taken a complete rest after sustaining a minor injury during the second league round and assured the fans of claiming clean sheets in the coming games.
The 25-year-old went on to admit that he started training individually, after a successful operation, and revealed that he spent much of his time working in the gym. Belenov lamented the injury, which restrained him from taining
wit his teammates, and expects a good third league round.
“We work as it should be at the training camp. Our coach gives us a very diverse and even interesting exercise to warm up our body and he likes us to play with our head.” The former FC Salyut Belgorod shot-stopper was quoted as
saying.
While the promising custodian identified the fans' support as a reason behind his blistering form, he credited Kuban goalkeeping coach, Dumitru Styngachu, for his good performances.
“I have learnt a lot from the goalkeeping coach. He has extensive experience in this field, including international experience, which he has earned after investing precious years of his life. And this is especially important for
me.” Belenov said.
Though Kuban have had a poor start to the debut Russian Premier League campaign, they still managed to surprise many by claiming points against Zenit St. Petersburg, Dynamo Moscow, CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow.
Following the appointment of Dan Petrescu as the Lifters head coach, the Russian outfit has stunned the opposition. Belenov reiterated his desire to play in Europe and tipped the Yellow-greens to claim a UEFA Europa League spot
this season.
Having left with 12 league rounds to play before the end of the ongoing domestic championship, Kuban are still five points adrift of the last European spot.
