In the upcoming round of Russian Premier League action, Kuban Krasnodar will play against Zenit St. Petersburg at Petrovsky stadium. The last time these two teams met in a league competition, the Meshki came from behind to score
a late equalizer at home.
With just four games left to play, Kuban are at the eighth spot and trail the table-toppers Zenit by 24 points.
Kuban goalkeeper, Aleksandr Belenov, has admitted that Zenit have decent players and singled out their striker, Aleksandr Kerzhakov. He lavished praise on
Kerzhakov, revealing that the 29-year-old Russian forward is amongst the players who can change the fate of the match on their own.
He revealed that Kerzhakov can open up defences, warning the Cossack defenders against the former Dynamo Moscow striker. Kerzhakov has managed to score 21 goals despite being on the sidelines for much of the season with recurring
injuries.
“Kerzhakov is amongst the best Russian strikers and an asset to the St. Petersburg club. He wants to score in every game. Whenever he fails to score he tries to improve. He is a constant threat to the defenders. Zenit, who are
known to initiate attacks from midfield area, rely on Kerzhakov upfront.” The former Spartak Moscow player was quoted as saying.
