Soviet Cup winner, Aleksandr Bubnov, believes d**k Advocaat had made a wrong decision to include CSKA Moscow’s defender in the Russian national team
Russian national team head coach, d**k Advocaat, has sprung a surprise on Friday after naming CSKA Moscow defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kirill-Nababkin-c21144,
in the final 23-man squad for the upcoming European event, Euro 2012.
The Russian tactician had to call the uncapped 25-year-old right back, who was not included in the provisional 26-man squad two weeks ago, after losing out veteran defenders: Vasili Berezutsky and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Shishkin-c31646.
The aforementioned players will not travel with their national team after sustaining respective injuries.
Berezutsky had to withdraw when it became clear that he has not fully recovered from a muscle strain while Lokomotiv Moscow’s Ozdoyev is suffering from stomach problem.
Advocaat, meanwhile, excluded http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Artem-Dzyuba-c6682 and Magomed Ozdoyev from the final composition of the Russian national team at Euros.
“The reason I've called up one more defender is that if something happens to (Alexander) Anyukov we will have a backup on the right position in defence." The Russian coach has said.
Though Advocaat has gone on to try and clear the air by giving explanations on his shocking decision, it seems like Aleksandr Bubnov is not convinced with his decision.
Former Spartak Moscow player, Bubnov, has expressed his disbelief at Nababkin’s selection, insisting that the Russian national team manager should have given a second thought to his decision.
“I can understand why they omitted Ozdoyev and Dzuba from the squad but to call Kirill
Nababkin at the last moment is a surprise or an unsolved mystery to me.”
“The man has never played for the national team before and to call him straight to the European Championship is questionable. Nababkin has not shown exception qualities this season.” The Soviet Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Bubnov has admitted that he is disappointed with the manager’s decision, insisting that Advocaat should have selected CSKA’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Georgi-Schennikov-c14623 instead. The 21-year-old promising defender has made 21 Russian Premier League appearances
for the Moscow-based club this season.
The Soviet Top League winner has conceded that Advocaat is making excuses after making a horrendous decision.
