The star striker has reflected on Russia’s chances of winning the European tournament and has commented on Dynamo Moscow’s poor Russian Premier League campaign last season
Dynamo Moscow striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleksandr-Kokorin-c4576, has backed Russian national team manager, d**k Advocaat, insisting that the Dutch tactician has all the attributes to guide Russia in reaching the later stages of the European tournament.
In a recent interview, Advocaat has conceded that Russia are not amongst the favourites to win the continental tournament. The 64-year-old manager conceded that Germany, Netherland and Spain will fight for the European trophy in
Ukraine and Poland.
The fact that Advocaat has played down Russia’s chances of winning gold medal at Euros surprises Kokorin. However, he has defended the manager, insisting that Advocaat has not under estimated the Russian national team.
“The mood is very good and we are ready to play. Everything is very much alive. I am not confused about what Advocaat has said in the press. Russia will do everything possible to reach the later stages of the tournament.”
“We did not have a chance at Euro 2008 previously but we managed to shock the world. We need to prove that we are worthy opponents.” The former Lokomotiv Moscow player was quoted as saying.
The Russian Cup winner has warned his side against complacency and assured the fans of entertaining football.
The fact that Dynamo Moscow failed to secure UEFA Champions League berth coupled with the Russian Cup defeat last season disappoints Kokorin, who believes that the Moscow-based club need to improve next season.
“It’s a shame that the Dinamiki have failed to record noticeable accomplishment last season.” He said.
The promising striker went on to highlight the dressing room problems at Arena Khimki and gave example of Igor Semshov’s mess with the manager, Sergei Silkin.
Media reports in Russia suggest that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andriy-Voronin-c6020 and Semshov are set to leave the Moscow-based club in search of greener pastures following a disappointing league campaign last year.
Commenting on Dynamos poor campaign, Kokorin has lamented the situation, admitting that the White-blues have failed to meet fans expectations.
