Aleksandr Serebryakov wins the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship 2012
Aleksandr Serebryakov of Team Type 1- Sanofi bagged an important victory during the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship 2012.
He rode brilliantly during the 200 kilometre race and restricted the race favourites.
Aldo Ino Ilesic of Team Type 1-Sanofi finished at the second position with Fred Rodriguez of Team Exergy, Daniele Colli of Team Type 1-Sanofi and John Murphy of Team Kenda-5 Hour Energy achieving the next three positions.
The 25-year-old Russian was delighted after registering the victory in American soil and marked it as one of his career’s best performances.
He thanked his team-mates and the team staff members for their endless support throughout the contest.
Team Type1-Sanofi General Manager Vassili Davidenko was delighted with his team’s performance during the race.
He noted, "It was a nervous finish, but it's all about the teamwork today".
"Serebryakov had a good lead-out in Aldo, who has good experience in this race.
“When everybody went to the left, they went to the right”.
“It was the right time and that's how they found themselves at the front in the right spot".
Fred Rodriguez is ranked amongst the best cyclists in American region and he proved his talent with a splendid podium finish place finish at the TD Bank Philadelphia International Championship 2012.
While commenting on his third place finish Rodriguez briefed to media, "I got stuck a little in the wind and when they came by they came by fast".
"I picked the left side and I just came up to a wall of Team Type 1 guys”.
Fred also briefed that his biggest goal of the season is to represent his nation at the 2012 Olympic Games.
He intends to support Tyler Farrar at the mega event and noted that Farrar is amongst the only few guys who can outsprint Mark Cavendish.
Rodriguez has worked with Robbie McEwen for a number of years and believes that he is pretty much capable of targeting the gold at the London event.
It will be interesting to see, if Fred’s effort catches the eye of Olympic selectors and the cyclist makes his debut at the biggest sporting event of the year.
