Aleksandra Wozniak defeats Julia Glushko in the qualifying 3rd round – US Open 2011
The qualifying third round of the US Open 2011 was played between Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak and Israeli Julia Glushko on hard court 5 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. 23 year-old Wozniak saw a near flawless
victory in two sets of a bread stick (6-1) and 6-4 victory.
Opening the first set was Wozniak who had just recently beaten Stefanie Voegele in the qualifying second round.
Glushko has just turned to professional tennis and thought of taking on Wozniak who is an experienced player and has seen the likes of Caroline Wozniak in the second round of the French Open 2011.
With an experience of playing players like Samantha Stosur and Shahar Peer, she managed to achieve geometric precision and an 86% win in her first serves. While, Glushko should’ve learnt a trick or two from her higher ranking compatriot
Shahar Peer, as she was only capable of winning 45% of her first service points.
Wozniak was a strong player and did not allow a single break point chance to her opponent and instead, she broke her opponent two out of the three chances she got.
The Canuck utilized her back hand to win 59% of her receiving points against Glushko, who barely mustered 5 of 21 points, making it a pitiable 24% win in the total receiving points.
The 23 year-old Canadian struck an ace during the game  point of the 6th game and with expertise bagged the set by restricting her adversary to only one game in the set.
It took Wozniak just 22 minutes to win the first set but in the second Glushko had nothing to lose and played with confidence but alas, she was still unable to produce the numbers.
Although, Glushko was capable to hit 67% of her first serves on target, she unable to win points on her return and thus losing most of her points lost the set and the match.
Moreover, Glushko also lost points because she committed four double faults hitting the net and was only able to convert one out of the three break points, capitalizing on a pitiable thirty three percent of break points won.
Mean while, Wozniak had a good win of 61% of her first serves but an even better result in her returns and was able to win 67% of her total receiving points.  She gained the statistical edge by breaking her opponent’s serve 2 out
of the 6chances that she received, converting 33% of break points won to her advantage.
Wozniak was able to get the statistical edge that she was looking for and hence, snatched the set by restricting her adversary to just four games in the set.
