Aleksandra Wozniak plonks Kurumi Nara in the opening qualifying round – Qatar Ladies Open 2012
Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada crushed Kurumi Nara of Japan to book a berth in the second qualifying round of the Qatar Ladies Open tournament. First encounter between the two contestants witnessed hammering of the Japanese
tennis ace at the hands of the Canadian superstar who triumphed in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
Both players were going through a topsy turvy time at the courts; finding it difficult to create any sort of momentum. This match was crucial for both the contestants, who needed to get over that struggle and develop some
consistency in their results. The Canadian tennis ace grabbed the opportunity with both hands and ousted her opponent in an emphatic fashion.
Wozniak commence the match with a successful serve game. Her opponent followed her with a successful serve game but failed to hold on to her second serve game. Wozniak with a breakpoint to her name cruised away with a lead
of 4-1 and broke serve again to build on her lead.
She served for the set in the next game and dropped just one point on her way to a resounding first set triumph. Trailing one set down and looking extremely inefficient with her footwork, Nara started the second set in dismal
fashion. She lost the first serve game and was bamboozled with several down the line winners from Wozniak.
The Canadian mounted a huge lead of 4-0 upfront in the second set, including couple of breakthroughs courtesy some eye-startling all-round display. Both players traded breakpoints in the following two games that registered
the first and only game win for the Japanese. She served to stay in the set but failed to perform the basics right; committed a couple of silly unforced errors and gifted another breakpoint to her opponent that confirmed her place in the second qualifying
round.
The Canadian tennis ace is drawn to play against the winner of the match between the Serb tennis ace, Bojana Jovanovski and the 29-years-old American contender, Raquel Kops-Jones.
In another match, the Pole, Urszula Radwanska, progressed to the second qualifying round of the tournament; her injury-stricken Ukrainian rival, Lesya Tsurenko, retired from the match during the second set.
