Alesia Zaitsava beats Noelia Jimenez in 2013 European Club Championships – Badminton news
Women’s Singles expert Alesia Zaitsava played flawless badminton in preliminary stage of European Club Championships and overpowered Noelia Jimenez on May 28, 2013.
Their encounter was a part of match between UKS Hubal Bialystok and Recreativo Ies La Orden badminton clubs. Both female shuttlers were poles apart in terms of performance as this tussle ended in just 21 minutes.
The Belarus campaigner, who was playing for UKS Hubal Bialystok club, remained invincible in both segments of the showdown and earned a valuable match point with 21-6 and 21-15 margin.
Meanwhile, the Spanish campaigner performed brilliantly in patches and ultimately her fluctuated performance led her to a straight-set defeat.
In the opening game, Alesia unleashed a series of power packed strokes immediately in the beginning and confined her opponent in the rear court. She relished full benefits of this psychological edge and strengthened her grip over game.
Her strategy was a perfect blend of attack and defence and she placed a mountainous figure of 11 before the announcement of break. After the one-minute interval, she lost focus for a short span of time but then few back-to-back productive rallies reinstated
her dominance.
She maintained a significant difference on the points table and raised her chances of success in third quarter of the set. The 15-point lead proved a deciding factor and Alesia won this game with an overwhelming figure of 21-6.
However, the following game was filled with great sensation as the suppressed shuttler of previous set showed a strong character and created challenges for her competitor. Noelia Jimenez started with few back-to-back gruelling rallies and it was felt that
she will take this contest to third set.
The first half of the set remained interesting due to both contenders’ mesmerising performances. After the mid-game break, the Belarus player showed some class and established a decent lead. She made best out of this advantage in next couple of rallies and
strengthened her grip in third quarter of the set.
Alesia did not lose grip in the final moments and raised hands as victor after putting a winning margin of 21-15. With this victory, she fetched a vital match point for her team.
