Alesia Zaitsava outshines Sinead Chambers in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at Slovak Open 2012
Alesia Zaitsava, the ace shuttler of Belarus, showed her impressive craft on court and reached into Women’s Singles quarter-final after crushing Ireland’s Sinead Chambers in round-of-16 battle at the Victor Slovak Open 2012 on Friday, September 7, in Slovakia.
The in-form Alesia, who is seeded at the top in Women’s Singles main draw in the tournament, played to her maximum speed and remained successful in crushing her rival in a tremendous fashion.
The top seeded Alesia played convincing badminton at the pre-quarter-final contest without showing any respect to her rival and managed to end up the match in just 27 minutes with a reasonable margin on score board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Sinead failed to stretch her staggering run in the tournament as she fell short against her higher ranked opponent and remained struggling in the whole match. She crashed out at the top-16 stage by losing the contest against
Alesia in straight games.
The aggressive Alesia was calm and composed in opening rallies of first half but she did not let her rival to take control of rallies.
Both shuttlers put up a good show of competitive badminton in opening half of first set and remained close on board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the higher ranked Alesia showed her brilliance and started to dominate rallies by injecting more power into her shots.
The impressive Alesia remained on track in the concluding points of first set and she did not commit any mistake in finishing off the game with a 21-17 score on the board.
Both shuttlers again put up strong show of attacking and focused game in the second set and remained close until the end of opening half.
However, Alesia again took over the control of rallies after the mid-game break and started to construct lead. She played planned and positive badminton at this crucial stage and managed to end up the set in a convincing manner with a margin of 21-18.
The spirited Alesia emerged as victorious against Sinead in this Women’s Singles pre-quarter-final clash with a 21-17 and 21-18 score on the board.
