Juventus striker, Alessandro Del Piero, says that he is now only focused on winning for the outfit now that his contract renewal issue has reached a conclusion. The legendary hitman secured his final contract extension with La Vecchia Signora and the upcoming
2011/12 campaign will be his final season as a player for the Old Lady. The player now plans to bring glory to his side.
The striker and Juve management had been in renewal talks since last autumn as the two parties desperately tried to reach a common ground. The Forward was very happy to have extended his stay at Juve and has big ambitions for the future.
“This team and this club should always have the maximum ambition and it is right to always think about winning. The path to victory may be simple or more tortuous, it depends on many factors, but our first thought must always be to win. It wasn’t difficult
to reach an agreement, there wasn’t that much to discuss. What needed to have been done was done. We chose today to do it and it is a nice day.” Del Piero said.
On May 5, 2003, Juve won their last Serie A title – 2004/05 and 2005/06 Scudettos were revoked following the Calciopoli scandal – by overtaking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan and Del Piero received his contract extension on the same day; May 5.
The striker said, ‘It’s a pleasing coincidence’ to share the same date with a great victory of the Lady Killers in the Italian top flight.
Furthermore, the Juventus legend signed the renewal in the new stadium that has just been completed for the next season. The striker revealed that he has the same feelings as he had back in 1993, when he joined the Turin giants. Del Piero had long set his
eyes on a contract extension and achieving that has apparently made him feel as if he has returned to his younger days with the Lady Killers.
Juve are currently 7th in the Italian top flight as they desperately track the final UEFA Champions League spot for the upcoming season. However, it seems a farfetched notion and Del Piero is set to miss out on elite European club football in
his final season with Juventus.
