The Italian giants, Juventus FC, have confirmed that the club captain, Alessandro Del Piero, has penned down a new one-year deal with the club. This means that the striker is eligible to play for Juventus until June 2012, and the news was welcomed by a majority
of the Old Lady fans.
Del Piero was also delighted at this new deal and hoped to repay Juventus for the trust shown in him by the officials at this stage of his career. The striker is 36 years of age and considering this fact, the Girlfriend of Italy has made a surprising decision
which was ‘accepted by both hands’, by both the fans and the player himself.
The club officials also hoped that former Italy international would continue upon his bright form once he reappears during the upcoming 2011/12 season.
Del Piero joined the Serie A outfit in 1993 and since then, the striker has managed 486 League appearances, scoring an impressive 204 goals so far. Overall, the Italian has racked up 674 appearances in all competitions.
The 36-year-old also thanked the officials who entrusted him with one more year at the club, and the fans who have continuously supported him since the start of his career with La Vecchia Signora. The Italian wished to finish his career while playing for
Juventus, where he has earned a lot of respect and won many hearts with his sublime game-play.
The club’s official website confirmed, "Juventus Football Club communicates to have renewed the contract of Alessandro Del Piero. The new agreement, signed today by President Andrea Agnelli and the player, is valid until June 30, 2012. The meeting for the
signature took place in the new stadium."
Del Piero, so far in the current campaign, has featured in almost every game for Juventus which signals outstanding fitness levels of the veteran. From 30 league appearances so far this season, the striker has seven goals under his belt.
