The midfielder of the Bianconeri outfit was talking to the press and in his interview he acknowledged that they are still coming to terms with his absence.
The Turin giants had claimed last year that they would be parting ways with the legendary Juventus striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-c4710 Del Piero. The Italian national holds the record for the most number of goals in the Serie A, with 188 goals to his name, and a major chunk
of those goals have come in the shirts of Juventus.
The striker enjoyed 19 long seasons at the club, and he was one of the most loyal players Juventus had ever had. When the Serie A outfit was demoted to Serie B, whereas, most players left the club, Del Piero stayed on at the club. He was instrumental in
their quest of promotion to the top tier of Italian football.
Such commitment and loyalty has endeared him to the Bianconeri faithful, who protested against letting the striker go. Many former players, coaches and pundits stated that the love affair between Juve and Del Piero need not die just as yet, but the management
had decided.
Marchisio remembers the prodigious and legendary player very fondly and he remarked that it was still a surprise not to see him around at the club anymore. He further went on to state:
“Obviously Del Piero is missed a lot. The chorus of Chinese fans for him makes us realise his importance. To see his locker empty at Vinovo also have a certain effect. Ale is an example for us all.”
The midfielder currently wears the number 8 shirt and was quizzed whether he harboured any ambitions of getting hold of the vacant number of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726. The Italian national dismissed any such suggestions, and remarked:
“I, however, would not put on the No 10 shirt of Del Piero’s because, whilst it was a dream of mine when I was younger, when I was an attacker, now I am a midfielder and I am not Platini, Baggio or Del Piero.”
Marchisio stated that he was not worthy of carrying the shirt of such a legendary player.
